Announcing JCRED’s Call for Student Essays
The Journal of Civil Rights & Economic Development (JCRED) is soliciting short blog-style essays from St. John’s University School of Law students to be published in our Short Reads.
Who can submit?
At this time, we are only accepting submissions from St. John’s law students who have written a paper for a paper course or completed their scholarly writing requirement. A short, blog-style version of the paper will be considered for publication on the website.
What is JCRED looking to publish?
We are seeking blog-length (~1,000 words) short read articles adapted from a student’s scholarly paper. Submissions will be selected based on the quality of the blog post and the underlying support of the scholarly paper on which the blog must be based. We are particularly interested in articles which align with the social, racial, and economic justice perspectives of JCRED. For instance, the best submissions would incorporate the racial justice implications of the topic. Papers not originally addressing such issues may be adapted to consider the social justice implications of subjects that may at first glance appear to be unrelated. Examples of short reads can be found on our Short Reads page.
When must I submit my short read?
We are reviewing submissions on a rolling basis.
To Submit, Please Send:
The blog-style version of your scholarly writing;
Your full scholarly paper with citations; and
